Common names: Purple-leaved albizia (English)
Status: Native
Small to medium-sized tree. Leaves 2-pinnate: 2-3 opposite pairs of the primary division are further divided into 4-8 pairs of leaflets. Leaflets oblique, rhombic-ovate to elliptic-oblong. Pod oblong, dehiscent, valves paper.
Notes: Young saplings often have distinctly purple leaves (image 1), while in mature trees the leaves are paler underneath.

Habitat: In mixed woodland.
Altitude range: 270 - 1680 m
Flowering time:Aug - Nov
Worldwide distribution: Angola, Botswana, Namibia, DRC, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
