Description:	Small deciduous much-branched tree. Bark green to rusty-red, flaking off in small pieces; young branchlets spine-tipped, zigzagging. Leaves clustered on spur-branchlets, imparipinnate with 6-10 pairs of leaflets and a terminal leaflet up to 7.5 × 2.3 cm; lateral leaflets smaller, often asymmetrical at the base, softly hairy on both surfaces, net-veining prominent; margin finely toothed. Flowers in axillary sessile clusters on short spur-branchlets, small, bell-shaped, yellowish. Fruit subspherical, somewhat flattened, c. 1.8 cm in diameter, hairless. Seeds with a 4-armed pseudaril; margin wavy.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name:	ugogensis: of Ugogo in Central Tanzania, where the type specimen was found.
Habitat:	On alluvial soils along rivers, sometimes forming thickets.
