Common names: Nana-berry (English)
Status: Native
Shrub up to 2.5 m tall, sometimes a tree up to c. 6 m. Older branches lenticillate, grey, hairless; young branchlets reddish and often hairy. Leaves 3-foliolate, dull green, somewhat paler below, sometimes hairless but usually with hairs on the midrib and veins. Central leaflet usually obovate, rarely lanceolate-elliptic, 2-9 cm long; margin with 1-5 large teeth in the upper part, rarely entire. Lateral leaflets more or less broadly elliptic, usually 1/3-2/3 shorter than central leaflet; margin entire or with 1-3 teeth in the upper part. Petiole 0.6-4 cm long, hairy, often reddish. Inflorescences terminal and axillary, up to 14 cm long, often in attractive profusion. Flowers small, yellowish. Fruit c. 4 mm in diameter, shiny red when ripe.

Habitat: In a variety of habitats, from rocky hillsides, open woodland and bush to margins of evergreen forest and in riverine forest.
