Description:
Suffrutex with annual shoots from a rhizome or a shrub up to 1(-3) m tall. Stems, leaves and inflorescence with latex threads.. Leaves all alternate, petiolate; lamina 4-9 cm long, shiny above, paler and dull below, oblong to elliptic or obovate, coriaceous. Flowers bisexual, borne in axillary fascicles; flower buds 2.5-3 mm long, spherical or subspherical, broader than long. Sepals unequal. Petals 5-7, yellow or greenish-yellow, 3-4.5 long, obovate. Disk conic-cylindric, surrounding the ovary. Stamens 3. Ovary ovoid-trigonous. Fruit orange, 3.5-5 cm in diameter, spherical, 2-3-seeded.

Habitat: Dune scrub, thickets and open deciduous woodland, mianly near the coast.
