Description:
Normally a multi-stemmed, scrambling shrub. Stems distinctly 4-angled; branchlets stiff, sometimes becoming spine-like. Leaves oblong-ovate to lanceolate, 2-6 cm long, 3-veined from the base, glabrous or sparsely stellate hairy: margin finely toothed. Flowers yellow, c. 2 cm in diameter, in few-flowered, axillary heads. Fruit, globose, not lobed, glabrous or sparsely stellate hairy, 7-10 mm in diameter, brown to red, edible.
