Description:
Small to medium-sized deciduous tree. Leaves 11-18 × 4.5-7.5 cm, conspicuously clustered into terminal rosettes, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, glabrous but rough and puckered above, with yellowish hairs below. Below the leaf rosettes, the branches are distinctly covered in pitted scars from former leaves, but do not become thickly corky. Flowers in slender, delicate, axillary spikes, creamy-white, unpleasantly scented. Fruit 4.5-6 × 2.5-3 cm, in small clusters among the leaf rosettes, 2-winged with fine short hairs, showy bright red, drying to reddish-brown.
