Description:
Annual or short-lived perennial herb up to 90 cm tall. Stems hairy when young. Leaves opposite, ovate, oblong-ovate or elliptic, 5.5-14.5 cm long, thinly textured, mostly sparsely pubescent above and on the veins beneath; margin entire; petiole up to 5 cm long; stipules with 4-7 setae up to 6 mm long, hairy. Inflorescences in more or less lax terminal heads up to 3 cm in diameter. Flowers white or lavender-blue; corolla tube 5-10 mm long, hairy outside; lobes 1.8-3 mm long, hairy on the main vein outside. Stamens included. Style hairless, slightly exserted but often immersed in the dense hairs in the corolla throat. Capsules obtriangular or oblong-ovoid, 2.5-5 mm long and wide, ribbed, hairless or pubescent.
