Description:
Scandent shrub or liane up to 7 m high with round or square, sometimes grooved, hairless branches. Leaves opposite, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, 4-14 cm long, somewhat shiny and leathery, hairless, veins often impressed above; petiole 5-9 mm long; stipules 4-7 mm long. Flowers in 2-15-flowered, umbellate axillary heads on pedicels 5-8 mm long. Corolla 5-lobed, greenish, cream or white with a ring of deflexed hairs in the tube. Fruit almost bispherical, 14-15 mm wide, greyish-green, sometimes galled.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: kraussioides: resembling a Kraussia, another genus in Rubiaceae.
Habitat: In riverine forest or thickets and evergreen forest by streams, swamp forest and Brachystegia woodland at margins of forests.
Altitude range: 450 - 1300 m
