Description:
See var. tetraquetrafor general details. This variety is distinguished by stems covered in crisped hairs; leaves with dense crisped hairs on the midrib beneath or pubescence on all the veins beneath; flower buds sometimes hairy.

Habitat: Open grassland and along forest edges.
Altitude range: 1140 - 1800 m

Worldwide distribution: Angola, Guinea, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Eswatini and Mpumalanga, South Africa.
