Description:
Perennial climbing herb with stems up to 3 m long; tendrils 2-fid. Leaves broadly ovate in outline, 3-5-lobed, up to 13.5 cm long, scabrid-punctate above, hairless beneath, cordate at the base; margin entire or with distant minute sinuate teeth; petiole 05-8 cm long, set with distant small spines. Flowers unisexual, axillary with female flowers often together with male flowers in the same cluster. Corolla with lobes 5-11 mm long, whitish, green-veined. Fruit elongate-ovoid, 2.5-4.5 cm long, green to red with white longitudinal markings.
