Notes: | This species was formerly seen as part of Memecylon natalense Markgr. (FZ-4, 1978 ao) but M. natalense sensu stricto is now considered to be an endemic of South Africa (KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga & Limpopo). |
Derivation of specific name: | nubigenum: from Latin nubis, cloud and gignere, 'born from', alluding to the cloudy mountainous habitat of the species. |
