Description:
Shrub or small tree. Leaves opposite, oblong-elliptic, 7-30 cm long, sometimes scattered rough, short hairs above, more or less densely velvety beneath margin entire; petiole up to 2 cm long. Stipules leaf-like, up to 2.3 cm long, broadly rounded and narrowing towards the base. Flowers in terminal heads. Calyx densely pubescent with spreading, lanceolate lobes up to 2.1 cm long. Corolla white, densely hairy on the outside; tube slender up to 11 cm long; lobes 5-6, narrowly lanceolate up to 5 cm long. Fruit oblong-ellipsoid or ovoid-subglobose, up to c. 2 cm long, ridged, densely pubescent when young, crowned by the persistent calyx lobes.

Habitat: In the understorey of evergreen and dry forest.
