Notes: This taxon may be conspecific with B. gilletii De Wild. & T.Durand from Congo-Brazzaville and DRC in which case it would not qualify as a near-endemic.
Derivation of specific name: carvalhoana: After Dr Manuel Rodrigues Perreia de Carvalho (1848-1909), Portugese botanist in Mozambique.
