Bulbous herb 5-17 cm high; bulb ovoid with dark and papery outer scales, up to 4 cm high. Leaves 1–2, often with a pseudopetiole, cordate to broadly lanceolate, often adpressed to the ground, lamina no more than 3 times as long as wide, 2-11 × 1-10 mm, often with purple spots, papillae or rarely short stiff hairs; petiole up to 6 cm long. Inflorescence 2-10 cm long, relatively lax to dense with up to 60 flowers; peduncle 2.5-7 cm, erect or slightly curved; pedicels spreading, 3-9 mm long in flower. Tepals pink to purple, often with a darker central band, segments revolute, 3-4 mm long. Capsule subglobose, 3 × 3-5 mm wide. Seeds subglobose, brown to black. |
