| Description: |
Semi-erect, somewhat scrambling, perennial subshrub, up to 50 cm tall, woody at the base. Leaves up to 6 × 2.5 cm, usually smaller, elliptic, ovate or obovate, more or less densely hairy. Flowers in sessile, axillary 3-12-flowered clusters, surrounded by elliptic to obovate leaf-like bracts, up to 1.5 cm long. Corolla extremely variable in colour, white to cream, pale to deep mauve, purple-blue, pale pinkish-white or rarely yellow, all colour forms sometimes with darker purple markings in the throat, 2-lipped; lower lip 3-lobed, upper lip less deeply 2-lobed. Stamens 4, only 2 protruding beyond the corolla mouth. Calyx with 5 narrow lobes, often with stalked, sticky glands. Capsule 10-16 mm long. |
