Description of the genus
Biennial or perennial herbs. Leaves 3-4-pinnate; ultimate segments filiform. Umbels compound. Bracts and bracteoles usually 0. Flowers yellow. Sepals 0. Petals with an obtuse incurved apex. Fruit hairless, narrowly ovoid, slightly laterally flattened; ribs robust at maturity; vittae 1 per interval. Derivation of name: the Latin name for fennel Worldwide: 1 (-3) species from Europe and the Mediterranean region, widely naturalised Mozambique: 1 taxon. |
