Description of the genus

Annual herb (ours). Leaves opposite. Capitula solitary on long peduncles, radiate, heterogamous (in ours). Phyllaries 1-2-seriate; outer herbaceous. Ray florets yellow or white; disk florets yellow. Receptacle convex, elongate to conical; receptacular scales clasping the florets. Achenes flattened, biconvex or trigonous; margin hyaline.

Worldwide: Widespread in tropical Africa, South Africa and Mauritius.

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
