Description of the genus

Perennial acaulescent herbs, from woody rootstocks. Leaves radical, entire to pinnatifid. Scapes with a single terminal capitulum. Capitula heterogamous, radiate. Phyllaries few-many-seriate. Receptacle shallowly fimbriate alveolate. Outer florets female; inner bisexual. Corolla yellow. Achenes turbinate, with a basal coma of hairs. Pappus 2-several-seriate; inner of delicate scales; outer smaller

Worldwide: 8 species from Africa.

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
