Description of the genus

Tree. Leaves alternate, imparipinnate. Inflorescence a compound cyme. Flowers unisexual. Calyx cup-shaped, 5-toothed. Petals 5, free. Stamens 11-12. Ovary (4-)5-locular, densely hirsute. Capsule with 4-5 thick woody valves bearing branched antler-like appendages. Seed partly covered by a red aril.

Worldwide: 1 species in tropical East Africa south to South Africa (KwaZulu-Natal)

Mozambique: 1 taxon.
