Description of the genus

Shrubs or small trees. Leaves distichous. Calyx accrescent. Flowers axillary, either solitary or in short racemes. Petals 3 or 5(-6), glabrous within. Stamens 3-6; staminodes 3-6. Ovary superior. Fruit a drupe.

Worldwide: 25 species in the Old World tropics and South Africa

Mozambique: 3 taxa.
