Mat-forming perennial herb (in ours) with many spreading stems arising from a woody rootstock.
Leaves pinnately 3-foliolate; leaflets obovate to elliptic, not linear; margin entire or (in ours) dentate to crenate. Inflorescences composed of false racemes or spikes, each bearing 3-8 flowers. Calyx teeth unequal, the lowest the longest. Fruit 1-seeded, indehiscent, ellipsoid to spherical, bearing conspicuous black glandular warts. Worldwide: 35 species occurring in the Old World tropics Mozambique: 1 taxon. |
