Notes: Notes: Perennial grass, up to 1.5 m when in flower. Culms erect, basally rigid and sturdy, terete, yellow-green, gibbose, nodes brown. Leaf blade generally folded, apex tending to wilt, fairly short, about 15 cm long, softly textured, smooth, dull green, young blades with long, soft, white ciliate indumentum. Ligule brown, membranous. Leaf sheath as long as blade, dull green tending to yellow at base. Inflorescence a spike, 12 cm long, borne on peduncle up to 25 cm long. Spikelets small, 2 mm long, ovoid, green to purple-tipped, interspersed with long yellow, bristly hairs.
