| Description: | Erect perennial herb, up to 1 m tall, rarely taller. Stems numerous from a thick root-stock. Leaves opposite or whorled, very closely arranged on the stems, narrowly linear, 15-55 mm long. Inflorescences in many-flowered, terminal racemes up to c. 10 cm long. Calyx 3.5-7 mm long, hairy. Flowers in whorls of 3, c. 2 cm in diameter, pink, mauve or purple, rarely yellow. |
