Description:
Perennial climber with milky latex. Leaves opposite, somewhat discolorous.
Notes: The exact identity of the plants in our region still need further confirmation. It most likely concerns a different taxon called Omphalogonus calophyllus, which looks almost identical in vegetative state and has formerly often been confused with the true Periploca nigrescens.

Worldwide distribution: Fairly widespread in West-, Central- and East Africa to Mozambique and South eastern Zimbabwe.
