Description:
Erect perennial herb with annual stems growing from a woody rootstock. Leaves along the stem, oblong-lanceolate, subsessile, covered in appressed hairs; margins entire and ciliate. Capitula terminal, solitary, up to 25 mm in diameter, bright purple.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: galpinii: after E.E. Galpin (1858 - 1941), South African naturalist and collector.
Habitat: In submontane grassland.
