Description:
Spreading shrub, often forming dense tangled clumps.
Notes: Plants often show numerous fluffy white galls that could be mistaken for flowers but these are infestations caused by small midges in the family Cecidomyiidae.
Derivation of specific name: vulgaris: vulgar, common, usual
Habitat: Along forest margins and in montane grassland; also in more disturbed habitats such as roadsides
Altitude range: 1500 - 2400 m

Worldwide distribution: Mozambique, Zimbabwe and from Limpopo Province south to the Cape in South Africa.
