Description:
Perennial herb, erect and sometimes shrubby, occasionally with trailing stems. Stems pale green with short white, somewhat rough hairs. Leaves ovate to deltoid, 1-6 cm long, cordate at the base hairy like the stems on both surfaces and also glandular beneath. Capitula 5-12 mm long, solitary or few together on leafless stalks up to 18 cm long, often with several branches close together forming the inflorescence. Phyllaries green, 1-12 mm long, white pubescent. Florets yellow; outer florets with rays 3.5-13 mm long. Achenes cylindric or ellipsoid, 4-sided, up to 1.8 mm long, pubescent; pappus up to 1.7 mm long.
Notes: This variety is most easily distinguished in the field from its near-relatives by the relatively short and broad leaves with a cordate base.

Habitat: In montane grassland and along margins of forest.
