Small, multi-stemmed shrub armed with forked, sometimes twice-forked spines. Older branches with whitish flaking bark. Leaves, opposite, ovate, up to 5 cm long, somewhat leathery, almost hairless. Flowers solitary between the spines, white, c 3.5 cm in diameter. Fruits subglobose, 1.5 cm long, red when ripe, edible. |
