Common names:
Status: Native
Tufted perennial grass with culms up to 1.8 mm tall. Leaves, linear, flat, 15-40 cm long. Inflorescence 10-25 cm long with a short central axis and 4-24 racemes 8-20 cm long, mostly hairless. Sessile spikelets ovate, pallid to purplish; pedicelled spikelets similar but smaller or vestigial.

Habitat: In woodland and riverine grassland.
Altitude range: 1000 - 1930 m

Worldwide distribution: Angola, DRC, Tanzania, Maalwi, Mozambique and Zambia.
