Hairless perennial herb, usually less than 30 cm tall, growing from ovoid to ellipsoid tubers. Leaves in a basal rosette, lanceolate to oblanceolate-elliptic, 4-31 cm long. Inflorescence terminal or occasionally axillary from the rosette or axillary from a leaf on the peduncle. Bracts and bracteoles lanceolate, 0.7-5 cm long. Flowers c. 2.5 cm wide; sepals linear-lanceolate-elliptic, 10-25 mm long; petals much broader elliptic, 15-25 cm, white to pale pink or mauve, rarely blueish; stamens yellow. Capsules linear-oblong, 20-35 mm long. |
